A 600+ Page Website Transformation

More control for marketing. Less dependency on developers.

A website with hundreds of pages needs to be manageable as well as attractive. I oversaw a major website redesign and CMS migration to improve the site's foundations, editorial flexibility and day-to-day maintainability.

01 / The challenge

The challenge

The previous October CMS setup created limitations around content management and the speed at which the marketing team could make changes. A large site also brings migration risk: existing pages, URLs, content and technical SEO considerations need to be handled carefully.

The aim was to improve the experience for visitors while giving the team more control over ongoing content work.

02 / My involvement

My involvement

I led and oversaw the project, coordinating the work required to move from October CMS to Storyblok. A graphic designer redesigned the core pages, developers built the new website, and the wider team supported the migration of more than 600 pages.

My contribution was project direction, coordination, workflow oversight, launch management and helping ensure a stable transition. I did not personally code the new website or design every page.

03 / The approach

The approach

01

A redesigned foundation

The core page designs were refreshed to create a more modern, consistent experience.

02

A more flexible CMS

Moving to Storyblok gave the marketing team better control over content and reduced the need to rely on developers for routine updates.

03

Large-scale content migration

More than 600 pages were moved through a coordinated team effort. Managing the content estate was as important as the visual rebuild.

04

Launch and stability

The work involved coordinating delivery and addressing the practical issues that arise when a substantial live website changes platforms.

04 / The outcome

The outcome

The new website provides a stronger design foundation, improved performance and a more flexible editorial workflow. It has reduced dependency on developers for everyday content changes and made the site easier to manage. Any financial savings remain unquantified publicly.

05 / What I learned

What I learned

Large website migrations are as much about people and process as they are about technology. The most important work often happens behind the scenes: agreeing responsibilities, coordinating a large content inventory and ensuring that the team can maintain the site once the project is complete.
